The Carrière des Granulats du Châtillonnais, jointly operated by SCHMIT TP, BOUREAU and Colas, specializes in gravel production. We interviewed Emeline Schmit, Administrative and Financial Director at Schmit TP, who shared her experience with us.

For more than a year now, SCHMIT TP has been using Dune Borne software to manage the entry and exit of its drivers on site.

Prior to the introduction of the Dune Borne software, quarry faced significant logistical and operational challenges. The manual management of vehicle flows - arrivals and departures, site circulation, and weighing - meant that a significant amount of time was lost, especially for employees responsible for both loading and unloading.

In addition to being slow, paper-based management increased the risk of errors and complicated the recording of information for several trucks, considerably slowing down operations.

Find out how Dune met these challenges.

Dune: a technological solution for vehicle flow management

Carrière des Granulats du Châtillonnais has implemented Dune Borne, a software package designed to manage vehicle flows on the site. Dune Borne facilitates the arrival and departure of trucks, optimizes site traffic, and makes weighing more efficient, safe and reliable.

The aim of this implementation was to increase the autonomy of quarry by enabling smoother management without requiring the constant presence of employees to manually record operations, thus contributing to a better operating timescale.

Collaboration between SCHMIT TP, BOUREAU and COLAS was crucial to the integration of this solution. Each company took charge of specific aspects of the Dune Borne rollout, from sales management and pre-billing to financial tracking and quality, safety and environment (QSE), ensuring a smooth transition to the new system.

Observed results

The introduction of Dune Borne has transformed quarry's operations.

Save time and boost productivity

"The main benefits have been a significant reduction in the time wasted manually managing the registration of incoming and outgoing vehicle flows, enabling employees to concentrate more on productive tasks (loading and unloading) . "This has enabled us to free up around 20% of working time per day for our weighing agents"explains Emeline, administrative and financial manager at SCHMIT TP.

This process optimization not only improved the team's productivity, but also generated a significant increase in customer satisfaction, reflecting the increased efficiency of field operations.

Simplified billing

The ease of exporting data and the ability to activate or deactivate a customer were particularly appreciated features, simplifying customer management and invoicing. This transition to digital has enabled us to move from a slow, paper-based management system to a fast, digital solution, increasing the overall efficiency of quarry operations by over 35% .

Data reliability

The solution has also effectively dealt with problems linked to late payment and uncooperative behavior, thanks to improved traceability and greater reliability of the data collected.

The implementation of Dune Borne has enabled Carrière des Granulats du Châtillonnais to overcome its operational challenges, improve safety and efficiency on site, and better manage its vehicle flows. The results obtained testify to the positive impact of the Dune solution on the autonomy and efficiency of quarry.
